THE ARCADE WHERE EVERY POINT IS A PAYMENT
Insert Coin is an arcade built on Bitcoin SV. Win a point and the sats are paid to you on-chain, right then. Post in the Trollbox and your words are written to the blockchain. Collect an NFT and it is yours, in your own wallet. Every one of those is a real Bitcoin transaction, and that is the whole idea.
“Once it gets bootstrapped, there are so many applications if you could effortlessly pay a few cents to a website as easily as dropping coins in a vending machine.”
SATOSHI NAKAMOTO · 2009
That sentence is our brief. An arcade is the vending machine: you drop a coin in, something fun happens, and nobody asks you to fill in a form first. Insert Coin exists to show that Bitcoin can do exactly this today, with payments of a few cents or less that arrive in the time it takes the ball to cross the table.
THREE STEPS, NO FORMS
No sign-up, no email, no app to install. The whole arcade runs on your wallet and the blockchain.
INSERT A COIN
Press Insert Coin and you have a wallet, made in your browser in one click. Play in Free Mode with pretend coins, or add a little BSV for the real thing.
PLAY
Pick a game and take on a bot or a friend. Claim a username, climb the leaderboard, wear an NFT as your icon and talk trash in the Trollbox.
GET PAID ON-CHAIN
Points, posts, likes, tips and trades are all Bitcoin transactions. What you win or earn lands in your own wallet as it happens.
BUILT ON SATOSHI’S VISION
BitcoinSV (BSV) stands for Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision. It is the Bitcoin network that keeps to the design in Satoshi Nakamoto’s 2008 white paper, Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System: money you can send straight to anyone, for next to nothing.
WHERE BSV COMES FROM
Bitcoin SV became its own network in November 2018, when the Bitcoin Cash chain split. Dr. Craig Wright and the research firm nChain were its best-known advocates. Their argument was simple: Bitcoin was always meant to scale on-chain and be used as electronic cash, so the original protocol should be restored and then left alone.
WHY IT MATTERS TO AN ARCADE
- Big blocks. Room for every point of every match, with no queue.
- Tiny fees. A fraction of a cent, so a five-cent like is worth sending.
- A stable protocol. What we build today keeps working tomorrow.
- Electronic cash. Bitcoin you spend and earn, as Satoshi’s Vision describes.
WHY WE BUILT IT
Six things we care about. They decide what gets built and what gets left out.
SHOW WHAT ONLY SV CAN DO
A single match can mean a payment on every point. A like costs a nickel and pays its author. That only works on a chain with the throughput to take every one of those transactions and fees small enough to make a few cents worth sending. We build on Bitcoin SV because it is the one place we can do this on-chain, without shortcuts.
GAMERS FIRST
The games have to be good before anything else matters. You get a wallet in one click, every game has a Free Mode, and nothing asks you to understand a blockchain before you can play.
SOMETHING FUN TO DO
Bitcoin needs more things to do with it than watching a price. We want Insert Coin to be the place you go to actually use it: play a match, start an argument, show off an icon.
BUILD A COMMUNITY
Usernames, leaderboards, player icons and the Trollbox are here so that players know each other. An arcade is only as good as the people standing around the machines.
GROW THE ECOSYSTEM
We build with the open tools of the BSV ecosystem and publish standard formats, so what you earn and collect here is not trapped here. More apps worth using is good for everyone building on SV.
CREATE REAL VALUE
Every point, post and trade is real activity on the network. Our belief is simple: real usage is what makes a network, and the tokens on it, worth more over time. We want to add to that usage every day.
ALWAYS ADDING TO THE PLAYLIST
Satoshi Pong is the first machine on the floor. We are always expanding the gaming playlist, and these are the games in the works.
THE ARCADE IS OPEN
- Satoshi Pong, in Free Mode during Beta
- Wallets and usernames
- The Trollbox, with paid posts, likes and tips
- NFT player icons and a marketplace
- Leaderboards across every game
MORE MACHINES, REAL STAKES
- New games from the playlist above
- Competitive play for real BSV once Beta ends
- More NFT collections
REWARDS FOR PLAYING
- Prizes and awards
- Giveaways
- Token burns
- A Bitcoin SV faucet: free BSV for new players, so they can start right away and get onboarded to the ecosystem
WHY OUR WALLET IS NOT BRC-100
BRC-100 is the BSV standard for how an app talks to a separate wallet app that you install and that holds your keys. It is a good standard, and we chose not to build Insert Coin on it. Your Insert Coin wallet is a simpler thing: 12 words, created and kept in your own browser in short-term memory.
WHY WE BUILT IT IN
- Nothing to install. You can be playing a few seconds after you arrive. A separate wallet app would turn most visitors away at the door.
- It works on a phone. Any mobile browser will do.
- It signs at game speed. Satoshi Pong settles on every point. A wallet that stops to ask permission in the middle of a rally would ruin the game.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU
- The keys are yours. They are made in your browser and our server never sees them.
- Save your 12 words. They are the only way back into your wallet. We cannot recover them for you.
- It is a wallet for playing. Keep in it what you would bring to an arcade, and keep your savings somewhere built for savings.
WE NEVER HOLD YOUR KEYS
Insert Coin is built so that we cannot touch your money. That protects you from us and from anyone who breaks into our server. It also means the responsibility for your wallet is yours.
MADE IN YOUR BROWSER
Your wallet is 12 words, created on your own device. The words and the keys that come from them are never sent to us. Our server only ever learns your public addresses.
HELD FOR YOUR SESSION ONLY
While you are logged in, the words live in your browser's short-term session memory and nowhere else. Close your last Insert Coin tab and they are erased. Next time, you unlock by typing them in again.
YOU MUST BACK THEM UP
Write your 12 words down and keep them somewhere safe (account menu, Show my 12 words). If you lose them, the wallet is gone. We cannot retrieve them, reset them or look them up, because we never had them.
SIGNED BY YOU, EVERY TIME
Every payment, post and NFT trade is signed in your browser with your keys. Our server checks the transaction and passes it to the network. It has no way to spend your coins or move your NFTs.
KEEP THEM TO YOURSELF
Anyone who has your 12 words has your wallet. We will never ask for them, in a message, an email or anywhere else. On a shared computer, use Lock in the account menu when you are done.
YOUR NFTS CAN LEAVE WITH YOU
Our wallet is not BRC-100, but our NFTs are compatible with wallets that are. Every Insert Coin NFT is a standard 1Sat Ordinal: one satoshi with the artwork inscribed on Bitcoin SV. We tested them against the reference BRC-100 wallet software, which imported, held and transferred them without any changes on our side.
So an NFT you buy here is not locked in here. Open one you own and choose Send to another wallet to move it to any BSV address, including one from a BRC-100 wallet that holds 1Sat Ordinals. Some wallets need you to import the transaction before the NFT shows up; the page gives you its ID after you send.
ASKED AT THE COUNTER
Short answers about Insert Coin, BitcoinSV and how the arcade handles your money.
What is Insert Coin?
Insert Coin is an arcade built on BitcoinSV. You play games like Satoshi Pong, post in the Trollbox forum and collect NFT player icons, and every point, post and trade is a real Bitcoin transaction recorded on-chain.
What is BitcoinSV?
BitcoinSV (BSV) stands for Bitcoin Satoshi’s Vision. It is the Bitcoin network that keeps to the design in Satoshi Nakamoto’s 2008 white paper: a stable protocol, blocks large enough for everyone’s transactions, and fees of a fraction of a cent, so that Bitcoin works as peer-to-peer electronic cash.
What does Satoshi’s Vision mean?
Satoshi’s Vision is the idea that Bitcoin should work the way its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, described it: as electronic cash that anyone can send directly to anyone else, cheaply enough to pay a few cents to a website. Insert Coin is built to show that vision working, one arcade point at a time.
Who is Craig Wright?
Dr. Craig Wright is an Australian computer scientist and the best-known advocate of Bitcoin SV. With the research firm nChain he argued for restoring Bitcoin’s original protocol and scaling it on-chain, and BSV became its own network in November 2018. Insert Coin is an independent project.
Do I need a wallet or an account to play?
No. Press Insert Coin and a wallet is made in your browser in one click, with no sign-up, email or app to install. Your wallet is 12 words that only you hold.
Does Insert Coin cost real money?
Every game has a Free Mode that uses pretend coins, and during Beta all games are in Free Mode. Usernames, Trollbox posts, tips and NFTs use real BSV, usually a few cents at a time.
Does Insert Coin hold my keys?
No. Your keys are created in your browser and are never sent to our server. We cannot see them, store them or recover them, so you must back up your 12 words yourself.
Can I move my NFTs to another wallet?
Yes. Insert Coin NFTs are standard 1Sat Ordinals on BitcoinSV. You can send one you own to any BSV address, including a BRC-100 wallet that holds 1Sat Ordinals.
